Almond Cocoa is a rich, indulgent cup — Almond Butter and Cocoa sit right up front, Thick and rounded, with Nutmeg and a quiet note of Dark Fruit working underneath rather than competing for attention. Nothing about this Coffee is sharp or fleeting; it's built for a slow sip, heavy-bodied and smooth all the way through, the kind of cup that coats rather than cuts. It comes from the Moganad estate at 1,250 Metres above sea level, processed as a Black Honey — The Darkest and Slowest of the Honey processing methods. Unlike a Washed Coffee, the Mucilage (The sticky Fruit layer Beneath the Skin) is left almost entirely intact on the bean during drying, and black honey specifically means minimal intervention and the longest drying window of the honey spectrum, which is what gives it that deep, almost molasses-like richness rather than the lighter character you'd get from a white or yellow Honey Process. It's a slower, more labor-intensive method than washing, and it shows in the Cup. The varietal is C×R, and this lot is worth calling out specifically for what it isn't: a thin, harsh Robusta included only to bulk out a blend. Heavy body and genuine cocoa depth like this is exactly the kind of lot that earns Robusta its own place on a specialty menu rather than a supporting role. It holds up beautifully in a moka pot or espresso, where that body and sweetness carry through concentration instead of getting lost. Sourced directly from Moganad, cupped and scored above 80 before it ever reaches a Five Roam bag, and roasted in small batches — the same standard we hold every lot to, Arabica or Robusta.
